Zug City Walk

from Zurich

In a country where there are more than 18,000 millionaires, there are places where many whose income exceeds the coveted six zeros seek to go. Would you like to see the canton of millionaires?

Zug is located on the shores of the lake of the same name. We can start our walk through the city with a promenade, admiring the calm and clear water of the lake and the view of the mountain peaks. In the small open aviaries, birds from faraway lands brush their feathers and proudly parade around displaying their luxurious plumage. Straight from the lake, an ancient street leads to the old town. The tile roof of the clock tower is a reminder of the colors of the cantonal flag, and the subject of the bright fresco on the adjacent building is one of the episodes of the history of the confederation. The streets are closed to traffic and we can stroll through the Upper and Lower Old Town admiring the interesting facades of houses decorated with bay windows-lanterns and intricate signage. Past the former fortress towers we will go to the castle, which now houses halls with a historical and archaeological exposition. Very close is the late Gothic church with beautiful carved wooden altars. Let’s go to the pastry shop and order the most authentic Zug cake. Now you can probably explain to your acquaintances why this dessert has very little to do with “cherry cake”.
