Pilatus

from Lucerne

Somewhere far below your feet is the turquoise surface of Lake Lucerne, and already your eyes hurt from the dazzling glow of the snow. Huge birds are circling above our heads and clouds are floating, and under the arches of the caves that we will pass through, dragons once lived, as the local legends say.

In the carriage of the steepest cog railroad in the world, following a gradient of 48°, we ride to the top of Mount Pilatus. A few steps on the platform next to the station and a magnificent panorama opens before your eyes, admired by many famous travelers.

When you leave the cable car at Fräkmünteg station (1416 m asl), you can walk along easy trails through the forest and have lunch in the small but comfortable restaurant. The sports park offers everyone to try their dexterity in the art of balancing and moving along the ropes, moving from platform to platform high above the ground. Here is also a little further on the slope there is a summer toboggan. In winter, if you buy a pass between Krienseregg and Fräkmünteg, you can rent a wooden sled for free and enjoy unlimited downhill runs on a specially paved snow track.
